Nagano College of Nursing

Nagano prefecture has a familiarity with longevity and healthy aging in Japan . Changing life conditions in our country has led to the acceleration of an increasingly aged society and depopulation. New and innovative changes need to be explored in community development to address these changes and to better enhance the quality of health care. Traditionally, health care systems have supported hospital-oriented care and disease treatment and continue to do so today. This Centre is promoting the idea of a shift in focus from the cure-oriented approach in hospitals to a community and home care orientation which supports health promotion and healthy living. As such, we are exploring transformation in the primary nursing role from one which is almost solely hospital-based and cure-oriented to one which includes community and home centered care.
