Meeting Minutes – Wednesday April 10, 2002

Date: April 10, 2002

Time: 9:00 to 12:00

Venue: Faculty Room (NUS School of Nursing)

Attn: Eseta, Ma, Tauaitala, Vipula, Iokapeta, Murraye (NUS) Masayo, Maeda (NCN)

Recorder: Maeda

Agenda:

1.        To review the meeting memo of Apr. 9.

2.        To finalize a questionnaire toward main survey

Discussion: Questionnaire (final version)

Figures for body image are replaced to Samoan-like.

Eating habits (during the week) is going to be "Eating habits (during school days)" so that children can easily understand they are asked about school days, not about Saturdays and Sundays in this section.

"What time do you have lunch?" is going to be "Do you eat during school interval?". Samoa has a special term for meal around 10am (and we call that "meal during school interval" in English), so we use that term instead of "lunch". Along with this, sub-question is going to be set for this question, such as "If yes, what do you normally have for during school interval?"

A new question and a sub-question are going to be added, that is; "Do you eat after school?", "If yes, what do you normally eat after school?"

We discuss about original question number 33 "How often do you brush your teeth during the day?" Because children in Samoa brush their teeth once a day at most, options like "twice a day", "three times a day" will not work. If they answered "three times", it is thought as a lie. So, options are going to be "1. once a day 2. twice a day 3. rarely 4.never 5.other ( )" in order to avoid unnecessary judgment.

Final research plan for main survey including cost estimation will be discussed on April 11th.
